Benefits of Sled Training

Sleds are a common training tool for athletes, but what are the benefits of using one in your conditioning?

Acceleration

A critical element of almost every sport, athletes are always working to improve their acceleration. Training with a sled is a form of sprint conditioning, forcing the body to move against a controlled resistance, improving speed and power and working hard with every rep.

Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation

Although a difficult and challengin workout, there is very little risk of injury when using a sled. It helps build and fatigue muscles without too much load. Sled training is often used in injury rehabilitation and prevention as a safer more controlled version of sprint work.

Functional Strength

Sled work involves using both lower and upper body strength. The full body workout involves a host of muscles and functional movements, for a great work-out or conditioning for game-day.

Diverstiy

Sled training offers something different from the standard training of any athlete or fitness guru. It's dynamic and adds something different into your workout.

Conditioning

The specific benefits of sled training can depend on if you're using the Power Sled, Pro Speed Sled or the Speed Sled. A sled with heavy weight will force you to work harder, increasing your cardiovascular endurance and lower body strength. A light sled will let you sprint faster, building speed and acceleration.
